Any GOOD historical films based on true story, to write about in my essay?

The Patriot and Last of the Mochicans are both FICTIONAL. So the "based on a true story" thing doesn't apply to them. Titanic and Pearl Harbor both have fictional main characters, so forget them. Braveheart is so historically INACCURATE, that you shouldn't use that one either. The Aviator might be a problem since Howard Hughes probably wouldn't be seen as a historical figure; although he might, it depends on your teacher. Schindler's List is probably your best bet out of those.
