Applied for 5 different credit cards and none approved will this hurt my credit score?

I have no credit and have been trying to get a credit card to establish credit. I have tried pnc, walmart, student card, gordmans, and a local bank. I have no credit, but will this hurt me in the long run? How can I build credit if no one will give me a credit card? Thank you!
