Do you understand why so many people were/are "invigorated" by Gov. Palin ?

Now, I do think media did a hatchet job on her from day one of her being added to the Republican ticket, but, setting this aside, I can honestly say I don't understand why people were/are excited about her as a politician. She seems a like-able sort, maybe a decent kind of Governor, but why all the excitement?
